Ottawa vs. Buffalo - Photoshop Gameday Preview
by Steve On Sens and Capital Gains
Tonight, the Buffalo Sabres visit Canadian Tire Centre for the second and final time this season. In three previous games against the Sabres, Ottawa has gone 2-0-1. Although the Sabres have had little success this season, goaltender Ryan Miller has played exceptionally. This is in contrast with backup Jhonas Enroth who has looked like a backup goalie for the Buffalo Sabres.
It's hard to believe that only 7 years ago, these two teams battled for the Eastern Conference Championship. Since then, much has changed including:
- The departure of Joe Corvo
- The emergence of Martin Gerber
- The disappearance of Martin Gerber
- That game in 2010 when Leclaire made like a billion saves against Pittsburgh
- Kovalev moonwalking his way out of Ottawa
- Chris Phillips opened a bar
- Daug-Man's shootout
- The arrival of Joe Corvo
Although these events have drastically shaped who the Senators are today, many things are the same such as
- Chris Neil will try to fight someone
- Jason Spezza remains a lightning rod of criticism
- Chris Phillips also exists
- Bryan Murray is still working the phones
- Eugene Melnyk still wants Bryan Murray working the phones
Let's take a look at the story lines!
Potential Storylines
Former Senators Assistant GM Tim Murray makes his first return to Ottawa since he left to become Sabres GM in January. Although many believed that Daniel Alfredsson would be the first to be honoured by the Senators, it was a smiling photo of Tim that made it to the rafters first.
The Bryan Murray banner will be a screen that loops game reactions. |
Marty St. Louis will be filling in for the injured Steven Stamkos at the Olympics. This came as a shock to some who thought that Matt Kassian should be picked as Canada's 14th forward. Kassian took to the streets of Sochi the only way he knows how to after being told he's not playing - eating.
"I don't know what 'Svidaniya' is, but I know I want to do it!" |
To commemorate the upcoming Olympics, noted outdoors man Eric Gryba showed fellow Senators Cody Ceci, Erik Condra, and Stephane Da Costa how to cross-country ski. This is also a great way of avoiding the post-game traffic jam after Ottawa's home games.
Gryba wanted to do the Biathlon and add some rifle shooting. |
Thanks for reading and enjoy the game!
